Hi lovelies! Today I'm here to share some of Barry M's Velvet range with you. The Velvet nail paints all dry down to a matte finish. The original release consisted of shimmery nudes and pinks/reds, followed by six more colourful shades. I purchased four from the second release. I've shown each one both with and without topcoat to show the difference. Read on for my full swatches and more info!

As I have come to expect from Barry M, all polishes had smooth, easy to apply formulas. They dried down nice and quickly to their matte finish, but not so quick that they were hard to apply. The opacity varied between two to three coats for me, depending on the shade and my application.
'Lake House' is a pastel blue creme. Being a lighter colour, I did find myself needing a quick third coat. Below is three coats without topcoat.

'Lilac Lady' is a soft pastel lilac creme. This could be either a two or three coater depending on your application. Some of my nails were fine in two, but I did need a third to even out a few minor streaks on others. Below is three coats without topcoat.

'Burning Sand' is a coral orange creme. This one was easily a two coater. Below is two coats without topcoat.

'Silent Cove' is a dark navy blue creme. I overworked the polish on my pointer finger causing streaks that required a third coat to even out. However, it was an easy two coater on the rest of my nails so it was purely my fault! Below is two/three coats without topcoat.

What do you think? Are you a fan of a matte finish? I generally tend to love it if it's the natural finish of a polish, like these - although weirdly, I never tend to reach for a matte topcoat myself! I can see myself filling a few gaps in my collection if I come across some of the other polishes in this range.
You can find the Velvet nail paints on the Barry M website here. They are also available on the Boots website here, and the Superdrug website here.
Hope to see you in the next post!
Becca x
