Hello lovelies! Today I have a review for newly released UK gel polish brand Toppers. Toppers specialise in universal no wipe top coats that can be used over any polish of your choice (gel or not). They kindly asked me to be part of their launch tour and sent me a fabulous box of goodies to share with you. This is a bit of a long post as I had so much to say, so read on to get stuck in! |

I was sent six different polishes, each of which has a quick swatch on the lid. I find it super handy when brands do this - especially for finding specific shades in my helmers!

To use these, Toppers sent their own USB powered LED lamp. This is not only small (while still having enough space to cure four nails at once), but it has legs which easily fold down to make it even more compact. As a little bonus extra, they added in a glitter picker tool to help with larger glitters.

Also included in my parcel was a handy swatch wheel, which I used to test out each of the 6 polishes on their own, over black, and over white. Based on this I then decided what base colours to play with.
Lastly, I wanted to address the formulas to avoid repeating myself. Being gels, these are slightly thicker formulas, but I found them super easy to apply. The glitters spread out well on their own and self levelled nicely. I found that I could happily manipulate them as much as I wanted before curing without affecting the smooth finish. Now onto my swatches!
'Top Desire' is a clear base with small and medium red hexes, and a fine gold microglitter. Below is one coat over a pink creme.
'Top Diva' is a clear base with a mix of metallic blue and aqua hex glitters. Below is one coat over a baby blue creme.
'Top Caress' is a clear base full of fine silver and grey glitters. Below is one coat over a black creme.
'Top Stunner' is a clear base packed with small black hexes and a fine silver microglitter. Below is one coat over a saturated orange creme.
'Top Heart' is a clear base with small silver and iridescent pink hexes. Below is one coat over a white creme.
'Top Date' is a clear base packed full of various metallic gold glitters. Below is one coat over a dusky purple creme.

What do you think? I loved the idea of these toppers, and liked them when they arrived - but after swatching them I love them even more! It's so easy being able to manipulate them as much as you want without worrying about them starting to dry or becoming uneven. There's also hundreds of options for each polish depending on the base colour/colours you choose.

ReplyDeletethey are really nice. I find very interesting the idea to use gel polish over a 'normal' polish. How about the removing. Is it enough to use polish remover if the base is not gel?

Thanks Tony! I don't tend to leave my polish on for too long so quite often use a peel off basecoat and that worked well with these. However, for normal removal acetone will work!
