Mani and Lola - August 2018

Hello! Today I'm back with August's Mani and Lola box. If you missed my look at July's box earlier this week, you can find that post here. After all of the bright shades we had for July, I expected something much calmer for August. Read up for my full swatches, a look at everything inside, and some quick nail art using all four polishes!

First up for polishes is Zoya 'Kiki', a hot pink with a bright purple flash, and silver glass fleck shimmer. It has a smooth, easy to apply formula, yet does start off sheer. It builds up quite well in three coats. I could still see my nail line at certain angles, but it didn't bother me at all with this polish. Below is three coats with topcoat.

Next is Artistic Colour Revolution 'Vortex Vixen', a pink-toned nude creme. This has a smooth, easy to apply formula. It has really good coverage on the first coat, though does need a second to even out some streaks. This is surprisingly close to my skin colour, so could almost be my mannequin hands shade. Below is two coats with topcoat.

Next is OPI 'This Isn't Greenland', a dusty, light green creme. The formula is smooth and easy to apply. This is a bit sheer on the first coat, and slightly streaky. It builds up really well on the second coat. I did have some very minor streaks on one or two nails (due to my own overmanipulation), so I did add a third to be sure. Below is three coats with topcoat.

Last up for polishes is Morgan Taylor 'Invitation Only', a bright yet soft purple creme. It has a smooth, easy to apply formula. This did start off sheerer than I expected, but built up well. I couldn't see my nail line after a second coat, though I did add a third to even out some small streaks. Below is three coats with topcoat.

The two 'extras' from August's box were both pedicure themed. We received both a Skin Republic foot repair moisture mask and a full size bottle of Essie Spa 'Swept off my Feet' leg and foot massage oil. I tend to neglect my feet and toenails a bit, and have only painted them once so far this year. Maybe these will convince me to pay them more attention!

As promised, I did create a simple nail art look using all four polishes. Over a base of 'Vortex Vixen' I swiped each of the other polishes at the end of my nails in turn, starting with 'Invitation Only', following with 'This Isn't Greenland', and finishing with 'Kiki'. I'm not really sure what I'd call this, but I like it!

What do you think? As always, Mani and Lola packed our boxes full of goodies, and gave us great value for our money. Something about 'This Isn't Greenland' just calls to me - it's definitely an ugly pretty colour and I instantly loved it! It easily has to be my favourite item from August's box. September's box arrived this morning and I'm already a fan!

Hope to see you in the next post!
