Hello! These past few weeks have gone so quick, so much so that I am already back with another MeeBox post. If you missed May's 'Lost City' box, you can find my unboxing and swatches here, and my nail art look here. June's theme was 'Ibiza Mee', and we were promised a box full of neon shades. I have a lot of posts coming up so I've combined both my swatches and nail art into one post this month. Read on to see everything!

To compliment the neons, MeeBox included the Nails Inc 'Neon Activator', a bright white creme. It has a smooth and easy to apply formula, but as is typical for whites, it is streaky. I ended up needing three coats, but those of you with shorter nails may be able to get away with two. Below is three coats without topcoat.

Our first neon is Nails Inc 'Claridge Gardens', a neon pink from the Stay Bright range. This is sheer on it's own so is intended to be worn over the neon activator. It applied nicely although I did have some issues trying to get an even colour. I have heard that this stains, so I recommend basecoat. Below is three coats (with topcoat) over the white base.

Next is Models Own 'Beach Hut', a neon orange creme. This was part of the second Polish for Tans collection, which I somehow never got! The formula is smooth and easy to apply, and nicely opaque for a neon. I could see my nail line after two coats, so added a third to cover it completely. Below is three coats with topcoat.

The last polish this month is Zoya 'Mirajane', a bright blue. This does have a sheer, thin formula so I attempted to layer it over the neon activator but struggled to get an even colour. I found it much easier to work with on it's own, although it still was a bit sheer and streaky after three coats. This dries to a waxy finish. Below is three coats with topcoat.

This month we were treated to two nail art items. First up are a set of full nail wraps from NCLA in the 'End of Summer' design. These are super bright, and I love the tropical feel to them.

Lastly, we have a sheet of nail decals from iZ Beauty of London. We recieved their 'Mixed Colour Striping Nail Decals', consisting of rose gold, white, and black stripes.

For my nail art, I started off by creating a gradient of the three polishes over the neon activator. I found the Zoya slightly harder to blend than the others, but it did still blend. I placed one of the NCLA wraps onto my ring finger, cutting it to leave a gap in the middle. To finish, I then carefully positioned one of the black iZ Beauty stripe decals into the gap.

What do you think? When I first opened my box, I loved it. I was super excited to have some bright and neon shades to play with. However, with the exception of the Models Own, the formulas of the polishes didn't really do it for me (and my swatches don't look great!). That being said, I did manage to create a nice Ibiza Mee nail art look!

Hope to see you in the next post!

I love the gradient affect with these colours! They look really amazing, and really do like the blue. I think maybe a black undercoat for the blue might have worked out a little better. But I actually like the toned affect, rather then being fully opaque,
ReplyDeleteGreat post Becca! X
Fabulous review Hun and gorgeous nail art. Hopefully this months box will be much better xx
ReplyDeleteHonest review but I cancelled my Meebox. Just too many dodgy polishes in a row. I question their quality control.
ReplyDeleteThese colours look amazing in your swatches (despite their bad formula) & I am in love with your mani, that gradient is perfection!
