Hello! Today I'm back with the first 26 Great Nail Art Ideas theme for 2016, 'New Year New You'. I had planned to try watermarbling, but it just didn't happen. Instead I based my mani around my resolutions. One of my smaller nail/blog ones is to use matte topcoat more often. While not an official resolution, I also want to get back into reading a bit more. I combined the two together to create these matte book nails. Read on for more info!

I started with a base of Barry M Coconut Infusion 'Starfish', a beige nude creme. Like all of the coconut polishes I have tried so far, it has a lovely formula. It is opaque on the first coat, but I did need a second to even out some streaks. It dries very smooth and glossy. This photographs more yellow toned than it is, it leans more beige in person (the second photo is more accurate). Below is two coats and topcoat.
I then added my writing using Creative Shop stamping plate 16. I won this alongside two other Creative Shop plates in a Rainbow Connection Christmas giveaway. These are my first plates from the brand and I'm really impressed by both how easy they are to use and how big the images are.

I stamped the word/book image from the top row onto each of my nails, using Hit The Bottle 'As Black As Night' (also from Rainbow Connection) and a clear stamper.

What do you think? I really like how they turned out! The addition of the matte topcoat makes them look just a bit more like real book pages. It reminds me of the old trend of newspaper nails, except better! This also seems like a good post to quickly share my nail resolutions for 2017. My main ones are to use more polish, buy less, and to have a proper destash. If you've made any, what are yours?
Hope to see you in the next post!

ReplyDeleteOoh I love this, as a massive fan of matte topcoat I'm surprised you don't use it more. It's amazing over glitter!

ReplyDeleteI love how these turned out! One of my resolutions is to read more as well.
ReplyDeleteThese look really good. Reminds me of old newspaper :) Also yay for large stamping images. My nails are short right now but I know how hard it can sometimes be finding good whole nail images for longer nails.
ReplyDeleteI like your resolutions/goals for the year! This plate is pretty awesome as well!
