Nails Inc Alice & Olivia Christmas Cracker Set

Hello lovelies! I hope you've all had an amazing Christmas! Today I have swatches of the Nails Inc Alice & Olivia Christmas Cracker Set to share with you. This was released as a gift set last Christmas (2015) for £25. I picked it up when it was reduced to just £5 back in August. I then waited patiently until this Christmas to open them up. There are six crackers in total, each containing one polish (5 minis and one full size). Read on for full swatches and more info!

First up is 'Black Magic' a black creme. This does go on well on the first coat, but does need a second to cover completely. You might be able to get it opaque in one thick coat if you applied it carefully. It's actually quite a good black! Below is two coats and topcoat.

'Paris Rouge' is a deep red with a ruby shimmer. It is a little bit sheer on the first coat, but is fully opaque in two. The second coat also deepens the colour and adds more depth to the shimmer. I feel like overworking could cause patches with this one. Below is two coats and topcoat.

'Uptown Sunday' is a nude creme. This is a bit sheer and streaky on the first coat, but builds up and evens out nicely on the second. I still had couple of minor streaks so did do a third coat, but with more careful application it would have easily been fine in two. Below is three coats and topcoat.

'Rose Dream' is a soft pale pink creme (think strawberry milkshake). Again this is sheer and streaky on the first coat. It does build up to be opaque quickly, but I found the streaks harder to level out. I ended up applying three coats and it still wasn't quite perfect. Be careful with this one! Below is three coats and topcoat.

'Ruby Night Sky' is a blackened red base with a subtle red sparkle. It went on quite patchy, so I did need three coats to cover evenly. This does look black (or very dark) in most lights, and unfortunately the sparkle/shimmer isn't very noticeable on the nail. Below is three coats and topcoat.

'Champagne Graffiti' is the one full size in the set, and is a metallic gold base with gold hexes and bar glitters. This is a bit sheer at first but does build up to be opaque on it's own in three easy coats. It dries slightly textured but nothing top coat can't smooth. I did use a peel off base coat for this. Below is three coats and topcoat.

What do you think? For the price I paid, I definitely can't complain! I normally don't go for minis but these are good size bottles and have bigger brushes in them. The minis are just as easy to apply as the full size, and I didn't struggle to pose with them either. As far as the polishes themselves, 'Paris Rouge' is easily my favourite - isn't it gorgeous?! I do love 'Champagne Graffiti' too though!

Hope to see you in the next post!

  1. This is a steal. You are very patient to have waited for a full year to open the packages.

  2. All of these are absolutely beautiful! I can't get over those creams. But what is a Christmas cracker?

  3. Champagne Graffiti is my least favorite, I don't like polish that has heavy glitter that looks textured. You have some serous will power to have them for 4 months before opening them! Great price on them though.
