NET Cancer Awareness - Pink Zebra Mani

Hello lovelies! I'm back after a long weekend away at a family reunion and have some fun bright nails to show you all. The lovely Emma over at Em's Little Corner suggested a mani link up for NET cancer awareness day. NET (Neuroendocrine Tumours) is a rare form of cancer that not many people are aware of. I hadn't heard of it before Emma's suggestion - showing that she has raised awareness already! The theme was pink zebra to match that of the NET Cancer Day website. Read on to find out more!

For my design I started with a base of Models Own 'Pink Wellies' from their Festival collection. This is the first time I've used this polish and I can safely say I love it. It's so much brighter than I expected it to be. The formula was super smooth and easy to work with - I've found this with most (if not all) Models Own polishes. Below is two coats and topcoat.

I was planning to do simple black stripes over pink. I had a quick change of heart last minute and changed one of my nails to a black base so that it could have the opposite colours. I used two coats of True Brit London 'Taxi Cab'.

Now for the stripes! I don't have any vinyls or stamping plates with zebra or tiger stripes so my only option was to freehand and paint my own. I did this before on a tiger mani which turned out well so I was optimistic. Using a striping brush dipped into the black 'Taxi Cab', I added stripes to the pink nails in a sort of flicking motion.

I then did the same over the black nail but with my pink polish, 'Pink Wellies', before adding quick dry topcoat.

My stripes aren't perfect - but neither are a zebras! Well that's my excuse anyway! I actually really like them. I'm loving having one nail with alternated colours just to add something different. What do you think?

Don't forget to check out the other ladies in the link up and head over to the NET Cancer Day page here to find out more.
Hope to see you in the next post!
